Pressure is building on key independent MPs to quickly resolve which party will form government, with two of the group yesterday indicating they are likely to make a decision this week.
Last week, the three regional independent MPs indicated they would start negotiations at the end of this week, the last day for postal votes.
But yesterday, one of the men, Tony Windsor, indicated he hoped to make a decision by Friday, while Tasmanian independent Andrew Wilkie said he would make a decision by Wednesday, according to The Australian Financial Review.
Mr Wilkie met Prime Minister Julia Gillard on Saturday and is due to meet Opposition Leader Tony Abbott today. He will also have another meeting with Ms Gillard today and possibly another meeting with Mr Abbott afterwards.
Ms Gillard and Mr Abbott are also due to meet with the other independents, Mr Windsor, Rob Oakeshott, and Bob Katter today. Ministers and shadow ministers will also be on hand for the meetings.
In her meeting with the independents, Ms Gillard is due to outline the government's proposals for parliamentary reform and timetable and reform plan for political donations.
