The Federal Government is set to sign off on a free trade agreement with Singapore today, which should deliver significant market access gains to the wine, beef and dairy sectors.
According to the Australian Financial Review, the agreement will cover more of Australia's trade than does the 2004 FTA with the United States.
It follows three years of intense negotiations and a decade-long campaign to lock Australian business into the economies of South East Asia.
Trade Minister Simon Crean said farmers "will be satisfied that this (deal) gives them important new market access".
