Recent rain sparked optimism at one of Queensland's largest agricultural equipment field days, Elders Farmfest, which opened its gates near Kingsthorpe on the Darling Downs this week.
Organisers of Farmfest said 2500 companies were represented on the grounds this year, and between 15,000 and 25,000 visitors attended the event every day.
Rural Press Events general manger, Barry Harley, said he was thrilled with the number of people and the number of chequebooks opened after some heavy falls of rain in surrounding regions.
"There were some big machinery buys over the past three days and I believe people have some real confidence now they've experienced some good rainfall," Mr Harley said.
One of the prime functions of Elders Farmfest is to provide professionals on the land with comprehensive access to the very latest machinery, equipment and services available to Australian primary industry.
Each year, participating companies use the giant field days as a launching pad for new products and services, in the process using the unique opportunities Elders Farmfest offers to make direct contact with their customers.
