 Global cooling? An inconvenient truth

Global cooling? An inconvenient truth

02 Sep, 2008 01:22 PM
The sudden change of focus from global warming to global cooling by leading environment group World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) demonstrates the lack of substance to the argument that manmade carbon emissions are responsible for global warming, according to Senator Boswell.

The prominent NP senator for Qld says, “The WWF now claims that recent freezing temperatures in Sydney are proof of the urgent need to cut carbon pollution.

"Does that mean that global warming causes global cooling?

"Does that mean that we should be increasing emissions in order to cool the earth or increasing them to warm it back up?”

“I though we were concerned with the perils of global warming – that we had to act immediately to stop temperatures and water levels rising and inflicting untold disasters.

"Now the WWF wants us to believe that manmade carbon emissions are responsible for colder temperatures.”

Senator Boswell says that the Rudd government’s carbon pollution reduction scheme is built on the assumption of man-made global warming.

“Which is it – are temperatures going up or down?” he asks.

“Cooling temperatures are what I would call a very inconvenient truth for the green movement.

"This is a twisting charade and no mistake.”

Senator Boswell says it is imperative that scientists get it right because so many of Australia’s competitive industries are being asked to take on higher costs under the government’s carbon reduction scheme.

“If the Rudd government’s Emission Trading Scheme is not drastically altered, then it is Australia who will end up pleading with the East Timorese to take us as guest workers – and not the other way round,” he says.

Senator Boswell sums it up correctly.

There is no global warming and an emission trading scheme will be disastrous.

Australia, you are being conned.

If this is all that Senator Boswell has to offer in regards to what is a very complex issue, with very solid scientific grounding?

Then he should move on and let someone who is capable and relevant have his Senate seat.

It's no wonder the Nats are on their last legs.

So Sydney has Just had some cold temps - big deal, look at extreme weather conditions all over the world and realise that human over-population of the globe and its lifestyle is killing off the planet.

You in Aus and your water shortage must realise that as much as anyone.

Cooling or warming, we are not helping and we just go on regardless.

Ignorance is no excuse for this terrible and misleading 'article'.

Of course, farmers have the most to lose from a drier Australia. You should remember that.

Global warming in a hoax by government as an excuse to raise more taxes.

Earth temperatures have been dropping since 2001. Info from Mars - ground temp has increased from mid 1900s - why???

The dishonorable Senator needs his more enlightened constituents to tell tell him that the scientific consensus on global warming is that it is predicated to cause more extreme weather events - like droughts, floods, and unseasonal weather events.

Global warming is a scam. Any politician that even utters the words 'global warming' loses my respect.

Ice ages come and go. What causes them to come? What causes them to go? Government policy? Man made emissions? The population of the so-called informed nations of this planet need to get a grip and discern sensationalism from fact from the media. Boswell has made the right call. We need science from the entire spectrum to back the Govt. stance before consigning this country's future to unneccessary hardship. Not just the scientific stance Wong, Garrett and Rudd want to hear.

Robert G, "Global Warming" is a bad name for it, as the warming is somewhat slight (compared to a cold vs a warm day). The effects of that slight warming are dramatic however, enough to make storms change course, radically alter normal weather patterns, and generally send global weather patterns into chaos. That's why a better name is Global Climate Change, because that's what's happening, the climate will be changing across the globe.

Some places will be hotter, some colder, some drier, some wetter, but it will change. And not just by a few mill of rainfall annually.

Climate Change, the new state religion.
