Politicians won't be able to attend the NFF congress in Brisbane thanks to a halt on MP travel as the ute-gate scandal engulfs Canberra.
West Australian MP, Gary Gray, was on the program to open the congress this morning but organisers were advised just before kick-off that no MPs would be allowed out of Canberra.
NFF president, David Crombie, said the travel ban would also affect tonight's gala dinner where Minister for Agriculture, Tony Burke, was expected to give a key-note address.
It's believed the Prime Minister's Office has ordered no MPs leave Canberra as the Government bunkers down to deal with the growing "ute-gate" crisis facing Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Treasuer Wayne Swan.
They have been accused of trying to help a Labor donor access credit for his car dealership through a Government program.
The accusations have been rejected, but the issue is dominating debate in Canberra.
