Nat Foods to sell off its brands

03 Nov, 2008 11:15 AM
National Foods is in discussions with potential buyers interested in acquiring a licence to its Pura Milk brand in NSW and other assets that must be relinquished if it merges with Dairy Farmers.

Today's Australian Financial Review reports that both Fonterra and Parmalat Australia are believed to be interested in acquiring the Pura licence and other assets which will be licensed or sold off as part of court-enforceable undertakings made by National Foods to secure ACCC approval of its $910 million bid for DF.

The successful bidder must also be approved by the ACCC, and use the brands and processing assets to establish or build their dairy business, creating a viable competitor for the merged National Foods/Dairy Farmers.
