The West Australian Government must heed the advice of its Economic Regulation Authority and discard the State's Grain Licensing Authority, according to the Pastoralists and Graziers' Association.
PGA Western Graingrowers chairman Leon Bradley says a final ERA report from its review of the GLA has been unequivocal in stating that there were no benefits in maintaining the authority.
"Failing to remove the GLA impediment will only penalise WA producers because potential buyers of their grain would prefer to buy in the east, where there are now no marketing restraints," Mr Bradley said.
"The matter is urgent because WA graingrowers are facing skyrocketing costs and will need to achieve the highest possible returns from the coming harvest to remain viable."
