SUGGESTIONS GrainCorp had lost its wheat export accreditation proved to be a false alarm triggered by a switch in its exporting arm.
Around a month ago, GrainCorp applied to Wheat Exports Australia and transferred the export accreditation over from GrainCorp Ltd, the ASX-listed company to GrainCorp Operations, its wholly owned subsidiary.
Some within the industry saw GrainCorp Ltd not get accreditation and thought it meant GrainCorp would not be exporting wheat.
GrainCorp corporate affairs manager David Ginns said the matter was simply an administration issue and that GrainCorp both had accreditation and would be exporting wheat this season.
“It was just a changeover from us from the listed company to the operations arm, we will definitely be involved in wheat this year.”
He also clarified that the change had nothing to do with the upcoming Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) review into port access.
“This is strictly to do with our administration and it is just a technicality that won’t affect wheat growers.”
