World record planting attempt to begin on Wednesday

6/06/2008 2:35:00 PM
The Coggan family in Queensland is preparing to launch their Guinness World Record attempt to plant the largest paddock of wheat in 24 hours, with June 11 now fixed as the likely date.

The world record attempt is being used to raise funds for the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, following John Coggan's life-saving heart transplant three years ago.

His son Phillip Coggan says there has been good planting rain and they hope to begin their world record attempt on Wednesday, June 11.

"We intend to begin planting somewhere between 11 to noon on Wednesday, however it all depends on the weather," he said.

"Week-end rain could push the schedule back."

* Live paddock web cams will broadcast the record attempt to the world on www.rmcam.com.au. The paddock broadcast on that website will begin at 6am on June 11.

Donations to the Guinness World Record fundraising attempt can be made at any Rabobank branch or cheques made out to the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation can be mailed to Rabobank, PO Box 1671, Toowoomba 4350.
