Heatley hopes ABA criticisms will "dissipate"

15 Oct, 2008 02:52 PM
Meat and Livestock Australia chairman Don Heatley said he hoped antagonism toward MLA from the Australian Beef Association would "dissipate".

Mr Heatley said he would be run for another term on the board and would welcome more time at the helm but he conceded the criticism being sent his way by the ABA might continue.

The ABA has complained MLA accepted none of its motions put forward for the November annual general meeting.

An attempt by the association to remove chairman Don Heatley and managing director David Palmer at the meeting was not allowed because the motions were found to be defamatory by the MLA's legal team.

Mr Heatley, a cattle producer from North Queensland, regarded fluctuations in economic markets as the biggest problem the Australian red meat industry faces.
