The Jondaryan Woolshed, on the Darling Downs just west of Toowoomba, Qld, is to host 2010 Queensland Heritage Rally.
The event was awarded to the Jondaryan Woolshed after the complex’s chief executive officer, John Osborne, presented the Woolshed’s bid at the 2008 Heritage Rally in Rockhampton on the weekend.
The Heritage Rally is held every two years and attracts about 300 exhibitors from all over Australia including heritage tractors, steam engines, stationary engines, vintage cars and trucks.
The rally also attracts a wide variety of entertainers including bush poets, musicians, story-tellers, street entertainers, whip-crackers and dog handlers, and presents a daily grand parade, making the Rally a great family day out.
Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor Peter Taylor said, "The Jondaryan Woolshed complex is an open air working museum of Australian rural life, providing an authentic historic backdrop to the Heritage Rally’s exhibits.
“The Woolshed turns 150 years old in 2009.
"There’s no better place to highlight Australian heritage than at one of the country’s premier heritage attractions and oldest working woolshed.
The dates for the 2010 Rally haven’t been set but it will probably be held around April.
