FOUR new Claas tractors in the industry’s ‘bread-and-butter’ power sector have just been launched by Landpower Australia.
Its fuel-injected and turbocharged Axos 310, 320, 330 and 340 deliver 55kW (75hp), 64kW (87hp), 68kW (92hp) and 75kW (102hp), courtesy of their 4.4L Perkins engines.
“Big, high-tech tractors may grab the headlines, but most tractor sales in Australia are within the 55kW to 75kW (75hp to 100hp) ‘work horse’ range,” Landpower Australia product manager, Konstantin ‘KB’ Blersch said.
Axos features the same stylish looks and advanced technology as the larger Arion and Axion series and is available in three specifications.
Basic C models have a mechanical two-range, 10 by 10 transmission, while the mid-range CL specification also has the Revershift electro-hydraulic system for clutchless directional changes.
For those who dislike using the clutch pedal, there is also a de-clutching button on the gear stick that can be used when changing gears.
The top-end CX models are equipped with the Claas Twinshift system, which uses a button-operated electro-hydraulic splitter to produce a 20 by 20 transmission.
The CX also have the Revershift system and can be fitted with a creeper range, which takes speeds down to a snail-like 400 metres an hour.”
Landpower Australia’s Konstantin Blersch says Axos tractors, while strong enough to perform tough, everyday jobs around the farm, are “very agile".
Their nearly 2.5m long wheel base ensures stability if using a front-end loader with their Perkins power units delivering fuel efficiency with up to 45 percent torque back-up.
