JCB Ag Equipment Australia dealer network manager, Dave Moselen, says noteworthy features include an increase in top speed to 70kph and a new semi-powershift transmission.

But the cabs look to be the stand-out feature.

They are no longer mid-mounted having been shifted backwards to give these tractors a more conventional look.

The new cab is also reputed to be the industry's largest and most comfortable.

Larger rear wheels complete the new-look package.

The 7000 Series' suitability for cultivation and other draught applications, compared with the 3000 series Fastracs, also are enhanced by:

• increased torque due to heavier axle and transmission components designed to cope with heavier draught loads;

• a tighter turning circle resulting from a sculptured chassis;

• larger capacity rear linkage and hydraulic flows; and

• headland management systems.

The Fastrac has remained the only high-draught tractor with full suspension on both front and rear axles since its introduction as the world’s first high-speed tractor in 1990.

JCB's new 24-speed semi-powershift transmission option incorporates clutchless forward/reverse shuttle and clutchless gear shifting between the six powershift speeds and four ranges.

JCB Agriculture director and general manager, Ian Sayers, said the 7000 Series Fastrac tractors arriving in Australia would be powered by 6.7L Cummins six-cylinder engines, which were also in the 3200 and 3230 models.

Power outputs on the 7000 series range from 129kW to 164kW (173hp to 220hp).

"The launch of the 7000 series provides a new option in the complete JCB Fastrac line-up, complementing the high horsepower 8000 Series and introducing a new power range above the 3000 Series, which is particularly popular for unique fertiliser spreader set-ups and cane harvesting and hauling,"’ Mr Moselen said.

"The 7000 Fastracs will appeal to existing Fastrac users, but also to farmers and contractors who use traditional front-wheel assist tractors and who are looking for greater comfort, performance and productivity."
