Fuel consumption issues were top of mind when Lamborghini tractor distributors from around the world, (pictured), gathered at Erfurt – a picturesque but otherwise obscure town in East Germany.
“It’s a sign of the times that the focus of the conference was fuel efficiency and continuously variable transmissions,” Australian sales and marketing manager, Gary Surman, said.
As well, field experiments pitted a Lamborghini R6.170 hp tractor alongside a well recognised competitor.
“Both tractors were fitted with external fuel tanks and gauges so that fuel consumption could be independently assessed,” Gary Surman said.
“After 15 minutes of work using identical implements, the Lamborghini used 1.3 litres less fuel and this translated to a saving of 5200L over 1000 working hours,” he added.
“That’s an in-the-pocket saving that will get anyone excited”, Gary said.
All tractors involved in the field trials were 100pc biodiesel (B100) compatible, an increasingly evident trend throughout Europe.
