EXPECT celebrations at
New Holland next year as the company ramps up the fact its Twin Rotor combine harvester technology will be 35-years-old.
Australian product manager Tony Peters says the company produced the first rotary combine in the world, its TR70 unit, in 1975.
"Size, capacity, technology and comfort have come a long way since then," he said.
For the record, New Holland's flagship combine harvester in Australia, the CR9080, has a peak power rating of 390kW (523hp).
The company claims its CR9070 and CR9080 models have the largest cleaning area of any combine harvester sold in Australia.
These points no doubt helped persuade South Australian producer Darren Longmire, Spalding, to purchase his Twin Rotor CR9070 combine in time for the 2008 grain harvest.
Prior to his decision Mr Longmire said he sought opinions from other CR owners, plus took into account a Kondinin report on their performance credentials.
"The Twin Rotor and self levelling shoe resulted in less grain damage, increased capacity and a lot less grain loss in the field," he reported on completion of his first season with the machine.
As well, he commented on its 'best in class' cab which he found to be a quiet and roomy workspace.
Also noting the CR's monitoring system features, including a large colour display that is user friendly, Darren said the technology allowed him to access all information, including yield mapping whilst harvesting.
