Australia’s success at an international level was again celebrated with outstanding results at this year’s International Wine Challenge (IWC) and the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA).
Australia took home 18 trophies from the IWC and a further 16 from the DWWA - a haul representing 16pc of trophies awarded in both events.
Both events which are held in London and judged by a broad range of internationally acknowledged experts attract over 9,000 entries from countries around the world.
Australia’s distinctive regional excellence was acknowledged at the IWC with wines from the Clare Valley, Coonawarra and Eden Valley all collecting International Trophies.
A strong showing in the Trophy’s over £10 at the DWWA for wine styles such as Rutherglen Tokay, Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon, Barossa Valley Shiraz, along with other emerging regional heroes, further enhanced Australia’s international profile with its premium wines.
