Wine powers royal wheels

Britain's Prince Charles has converted one of his cars to run on biofuel made from surplus wine.

He has overhauled his 38-year-old Aston Martin in a bid to make it more environmentally friendly.

It is now fuelled by bioethanol - a substance extracted from local surplus wine - which costs £1.10 a litre (A$2.28/L) and is 10pc more efficient than petrol.

The wine used for the bioethanol comes from the current vintage that remains after English wine producers reach the European Union limit for annual wine production.

I would have thought he'd be using Grange or Château Mouton Rothschild.

Now that should be a boost for the wine industry - drink more wine and produce alternative power!
