The wool market went backwards in the first sales after the winter break, with the eastern market indicator dropping 21c/kg yesterday after auctions in Sydney and Melbourne.

According to AWEX, the EMI closed yesterday at 843c/kg (clean), a fall on 2.4pc from the last sale on July 9.

The northern indicator also lost 21c/kg to stand at 881c/kg and the southern indicator lost 20c/kg to stand at 812c/kg.
