3/07/2008 11:08:00 AM
At the first sale of the new season the wool market held firm with a two cent rise in the eastern market indicator to 876 cents a kilogram (clean).

The Australian dollar trading at US 96 cents was not enough to dampen the market, with just 7.1pc of the 23,000 bale offering passed in on the first day of trading this week.

Micron indicators changed generally by single figures and the 18-micron guide finished the day at 1433c in Sydney and 1382c in Melbourne.

The 19m at 1100c/kg and 1081c/kg respectively.

The 21m wools finished at 875c/kg, 888c/kg and 877c/kg in the west.

The corresponding figures for the 23m indicator were 835c/kg, 842c/kg and 831c/kg.
