Foster's beer unit loses its head

23 Dec, 2009 12:41 PM
FOSTER'S Group's crucial beer business has lost its managing director just 10 months after he joined the company.

Alex Stevens, who was in charge of the Carlton & United Breweries business created in February, has left because of ill health, The Australian Financial Review reports.

The former PepsiCo executive was appointed in February to run CUB, the beer division which was separated from Foster's troubled wine operations.

Foster's chief executive Ian Johnston has appointed himself the temporary head of the beer division, which generates about 80 per cent of Foster's earnings.
