FORMER Victorian Farmers Federation president Simon Ramsay said he was still weighing up options as to his future and was yet to throw his hat in the ring for the blue-ribbon Liberal seat of Wannon.
He said there had been suggestions he look at the Upper House seats in the Western district and given his close relationship with the State Government, both Labour and Coalition parties, “it’s something I might look at”.
“I’m not going to rush in on standing for a particular seat at the moment until I get some advice from those in the party on where I might best fit.”
Despite defeat in the preselection for the marginal Liberal seat of Corangamite earlier this month, Mr Ramsay said he remained keen to be involved with either a rural or political constituency to “progress the outstanding issues for rural Victoria”.
“Yes I do have a burning ambition to continue playing a role, whether it be in agripolitics or politics, in making sure whatever party of government policy is set, it’s in the interests of the rural communities.”
