THE Great South West Dairy Awards have become an annual fixture in the South West Dairy calendar and in 2012 the Awards will be held at the Glenormiston College banquet hall on April 26th. In previous years the success of the Awards Gala Event has set a precedent as an important day on the dairy calendar.
The awards keep growing and in 2011 there were record
nominations, record sponsorship support, and record attendance at the Gala Awards Night.
The winners, who shared a prize pool of more than $15,000, were announced at Glenormiston College on April 7 and were recognised for their outstanding achievements as dairy employers, employees, natural resource managers, young farm leaders, share farmers and dairy farm photographers.
The Awards set out to recognise and reward the skill,
dedication, leadership, ingenuity and environmental
responsibility of our farming community in south west
Victoria.
Between Geelong and the South Australian border dairy
produces nearly 25% of Australia’s milk and the Awards
remind the general community of the importance of
dairy (a $4.6Bn industry) to south west Victoria.
Nominations are now open for 2012 in the following categories:
Employer of the Year
Employee of the Year
Share Farmer of the Year
Young Farm Leader of the Year
Natural Resource and Sustainability Manager of the Year
