Store cattle prices at Wodonga, Vic, on Thursday reflected the lower rates of this week's prime cattle market.
Offering a yarding of 3200, which included a large selection of calved and joined females, prices averaged $50 a head or 15-17c/kg (live) lower, with all classes equally affected.
The recent spell of hot weather, a lack of water and feed across a large expanse on the local region, plus the less than bright outlook for commodity prices in general, had a reasonably good crowd of potential buyers in a very cautious mind.
