Local buyers snap up small offering at Myrtleford

7/10/2008 9:59:00 AM
IN A small yarding of 600 head at Myrtleford on Friday, local buyers, enjoying a good season, snapped up the offering at rates marginally cheaper, according to Dan Ivone, Paull and Scollard, Myrtleford.

“The season is good, there’s no doubt about that, we’re getting sprinkles of rain,” Mr Ivone said.

Heifers with calves at foot sold from $950-$1000, with the cow and calf portion making $790-$960, with the top result returned on a pen of third calvers.

Heifers made from 170-175 cents a kilogram and grown steers averaged about 185c/kg, weaner steers 195-200c/kg, according to Mr Ivone.

The top pen of weaners returned $722 for cattle with a bit of weight on them, by Alpine Angus bulls and out of Havilah.
