Melbourne Show: Angus heifer KO's the opposition

24 Sep, 2009 11:58 AM
Nine-year-old Angus Onisforou, KO Angus, Bowral, NSW, had every reason to smile when the stud's 12-month-old heifer claimed the supreme Angus exhibit crown at the Melbourne Royal Show today.

He picked her out of the paddock five months ago, hoping her to get her ready for the Angus Roundup next January.

And yes, he thought she’d do pretty well at Melbourne.

By US sire Papa Equator and from BT Everelda Entense 988P, it was KO Everelda Entense D154’s first show outing.

On the way to winning grand champion female, she notably beat KO stablemate, KO Vicky D51 – the stud’s supreme exhibit from National Beef at Bendigo in May – for junior.

It then defeated a 12-month-old bull from the Rossander stud at Warrnambool for the supreme title.

The KO stud brought just two exhibits to Melbourne this year, scooping the pool in the junior female classes with the champion and reserve ribbons.

Entense went on to topple the senior female N Bar A2 Iris C15 (AI) shown by Eastmark Holdings, Goulburn, NSW, for the grand female crown.

KO plans to show her as a junior heifer at Sydney next year

“And we think she’ll be hard to beat,” said stud principal Theo Onisforou.

The stud will offer a full brother to Entense at its bull sale next August.
