Heifer prices continued their red hot run at today’s Elders and Landmark all breeds weaner heifer sale, breaking 220 cents a kilogram.
The Neeson brothers achieved the two top prices of the sales with their Glanleam and Innisfail operations.
EF Neeson and Co, Glanleam, set the sale ceiling, clearing 34 Limousin heifers, Mandayen blood, weighing 242kg for 226c or $547.
Innisfail was close behind, selling a pen of 25 Limousin heifers, Donna Valley blood, weighing 246kg, for 224c to return $551 a head.
Both lots of heifers sold to Elders Pakenham.
Other producers trading near the top of the market included the Judd family who sold 25 Charolais heifers, 301kg, for 203c to return $612 and the Notman family, Mt Widderin, Skipton, who topped the whiteface offering with a pen sold for 192c.
Stock & Land market analyst Don Story, reporting from the yards, said the market had maintained the strength shown at Wednesday sales when heifer prices exceeded all expectations by hitting 200c.
The offering was expected to average about 171c or close to $507 a head in line with Wednesday’s strong prices.
