Weaner steers lose $30 a head at Ballarat, Vic

20/10/2008 9:12:00 AM
Heavy steer prices remained fully firm, while yearling and weaner steer values eased 10 cents a kilogram liveweight or $30 a head at the Ballarat monthly store cattle sale on Friday.

A large yarding of 2850 head was offered.

Agents conducting the sale were exceptionally pleased with the result, given the recent softening on the prime market and the encroaching dry in the south that has begun to force unexpected numbers onto the market.

* A full market report will appear in Stock & Land, Vic, October 23 edition.
