Wodonga posts cattle season's high point

05 Mar, 2010 10:44 AM

Store cattle prices were pushed to a high point for the season at Wodonga Thursday as buyers from the western Riverina flush with feed, joined a growing line up of NSW operators seeking cattle after further follow-up rainfall.

Prices for grown steers rose 10 cents to average 183c/kg (live), while weaner steer sales averaged almost 200c as most realised 195-220c/kg.

Demand for unjoined heifers, however, was even stronger, soaring 20c on the previous month's sale to average 183-c/kg with some sales exceeding 200c/kg.
