Breeding ground Tivers up for grabs

30 Jun, 2009 04:09 PM
AN outstanding 407.6 hectare grazing property has entered the market in Naracoorte, South Australia.

While sheep could be run on the Tivers farm, the vendors currently manage a breeding enterprise which runs up to 217 cows and approximately 185 calves.

“This is a really great grazing block. In the history of the property, there has never been any hand-feeding,” agent, Brian Edwards of First National Real Estate, Naracoorte said.

“This time of year, it’s a bit short of feed – but the cattle are still in prime condition.”

Silage is only ever used to yard wean calves prior to sale.

Tivers is close to a large livestock exchange and regional centre in Naracoorte and is also just 100 kilometres from Mount Gambier.

The property is subdivided into twenty main paddocks, plus holding paddocks.

Improvements include a four-stand electric woolshed and steel sheep yards, steel framed implement shed with concrete floor and workshop, as well as steel posts and timber railed cattle yards.

Pastures are mainly strawberry clover, sub clover, demeter fescue, phalaris, ryegrass, lucerne and chicory.

Tivers is privately available with a starting offer of $1.5 million.
