Connection dates to 1800s

Cheviot Glen has been in Glenys Anderson's family since the 1940s, when her father and uncle purchased the property.

Her connection to the place goes back even further, with her great-great-grandfather on her mother's side owning it in the 1800s.

Now a working sheep and cattle farm, Ms Anderson has been running the property for the past 30 years.

In a good season, 100 head of Angus cross cattle and 200 Dorper ewes have been run for weaner and prime lamb production.

She described it as a beautiful property that she would be sad to leave, but said it was time to retire.

"Cheviot Glen is in a good location, only five minutes from Yea, and it is a really private and quiet property," she said.

"The mixture of hills, undulating ground and good flat areas make for good grazing land and we used to run at least three ewes to the acre, without pushing the country too much."

Cheviot Glen also features two self-contained bed and breakfast cottages which have been run successfully in the past.

Ms Anderson said while the B&B operation was closed, the cottages were in good condition and had potential for being put back into use.

"The Murrindindi Rail Trail, which has recently opened, runs past the property and as it gets busy it could produce more interest in the cottages," she said.

"There has also been extensive tree planting over the years, and if you look at video of the property 20 years ago you wouldn't recognise it."

The property has 10 dams, the largest one being registered and including an island, and creek flats with seasonal water.

Electric fencing, sheep and cattle yards, a two-stand shearing shed, machinery shed and hay shed can also be found at Cheviot Glen.

The ranch-style homestead has four bedrooms and a number of up-to-date features.

"It it isn't far to get to Melbourne and it is very picturesque here looking over the hills, a lovely place to live," Ms Anderson said.
